Confirmation classes are also held during the year.
Average congregation size: 20
We are a small but loyal, closely-knit,
homely congregation varying in age between 10 and 80+. We are
privileged to enjoy a beautifully light late medieval church.
Members come from a variety of backgrounds, professions and have
various interests and talents. There are opportunities for
people to read lessons, serve wine during the communion service
and take the collection. Tea/coffee and biscuits and an awful
lot of chatting follow services !
There are occasional social events, which
are generally of a fundraising nature, which in the past have
included fairs, slide shows, walks and talks. The Royal Northern
College of Music Chamber Ensemble and the Manchester Chamber
Choir performed a highly memorable rendition of Handel’s Messiah
in December 2006. The event drew people from a large area and
the building was full to capacity. The church was
atmospherically decorated with flowers and Victorian style holly
decorations and the concert performed in soft candlelight. It is
hoped that further concerts will be held in the future
The church participates in the European
Heritage Weekend and the Churches Tourism Network held in
September, such an event might include a small exhibition.
Evening or weekend visits by arrangement
by historical societies are always welcome. An English or Welsh
speaking guide is provided which can include an extended tour if
required.
Past visitors have included Cymdeithas y
Berth, Lixwm, Cymdeithas Hanes Llansannan, Ruabon Mother’s
Union, a Welsh learners group from Pont Robert, Denbighshire
Historical Society, Flintshire Historical Society and the
Denbigh Historical Society.
